BETONG: Police arrested three male individuals for allegedly raping a minor at Kampung Lot Kalok, recently.

District police chief DSP Mohd Fahdil Antum Abdullah said the trio was rounded up on the same day at 10.24pm following a police report lodged by the girl’s mother last Saturday.

The suspects are being remanded for seven days to facilitate investigation under Section 376 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum 20 years’ jail and whipping upon conviction.

Initial investigations revealed that the 13-year-old girl and the suspects knew each other since the end of last year.

The case came to light when the girl’s mother discovered that her daughter was in a room with one of the three suspects at a house in Kampung Lot Kalok, after her daughter failed to return home by 8pm.

Prior to the discovery the worried mother had gone out to look for her daughter at a friend’s house in Kampung Hilir Pusa, but she was not there. The friend then told the mother that the victim might be at a house in Kampung Lot.

“The mother then went straight to the house. However, the house door was locked. She knocked on the door several times but there was no response.

“With help from an individual, they managed to unlock the door and saw the victim had just came out of a room with one of the suspects, while the other two suspects hid inside the house,” Fahdil said when contacted.

Further investigations revealed that the girl had sex three times with one of the suspects at various places including in a vacant house.

Fahdil also pointed out that the other two suspects claimed that they never had sex with the girl. They were only acting as “guards” while the two were having sex.

The victim is being warded at the Sarawak General Hospital.
