SIBU: Three men were compounded after they were found violating the movement control order standard operating procedures (SOPs) by exceeding the passenger limit in a car.

Sibu district deputy police chief Supt Collin Babat said all the three men, aged between 36 and 58, were each compounded RM2,000.

An SOP compliance monitoring team, led by ASP Kushairy Bujang, spotted the trio at Jalan Pelangi around 9.30am.

“When inspected, there were three persons inside the vehicle, thus exceeding the passenger capacity, based on the SOPs issued by the National Security Council,” he said.

Collin added that the compounds were issued in accordance with Regulation 12 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Infected Areas) Regulations 2021.

The men are given a 14-day period to pay the compound at the Sibu Divisional Health Office.
