Three straight days of zero cases

KUCHING: For the third consecutive day, Sarawak has reported no new positive case of Covid-19 since the last one was detected in Bintulu last Sunday (Aug 30).

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the total number of cases in the states stands at 699.

SDMC also revealed that there were no new recovery and discharged cases from hospitals statewide, bringing the total of recovery cases to remain at 663 or 94.85 percent.

“A total of 17 people are still receiving treatment at hospital isolation wards.

“Eleven cases are being treated at Bintulu Hospital, five cases at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), and one at Miri Hospital.

“The death toll remained at 19 or 2.72 percent,” said SDMC in a statement issued today.

With this, the committee added that there is only one remaining active cluster in the state — the Alam Cluster in Bintulu with eight cases.

It said that a total of five new persons-under-investigation (PUI) were reported while none are awaiting laboratory test results.

SDMC also informed that 45 new persons-under-surveillance (PUS) had been checked into hotels to undergo quarantine.

This brings the total number of PUS at 14 hotels in the state to 683 persons, while 23,208 had completed their quarantine period.
