Three youths jailed for stealing motorcycle

SIBU: Three youths were sentenced to two years’ imprisonment by the Magistrates’ Court here for stealing a motorcycle.

Randi Daud, 25; Raju Talun, 19, and Chritoper Duri, 22, pleaded guilty to the joint charge on Wednesday (Nov 10) when it was read and explained to them through an interpreter.

They were jointly indicted for stealing a Matrix Sport motorcycle at Lorong 13, Lanang on Oct 23 at 1am.

The offence is listed under Section 379A of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same Act which carries a jail term of not less than one year and not more than seven years as well as liable to fine.

According to facts of case tendered by prosecuting officer Insp Badrul Iskandar Selamat, on Oct 23 at 8am, the complainant discovered his motorcyle missing at the parking space of his place of stay.

Acting on information received on the following day at about 11.10am, a police team went to a hotel in Jalan Kampung Nyabor and arrested the first accused.

On the same day, the police proceeded to another hotel in Jalan Tukang Besi and arrested another accused at about 11.40 before apprehending the third accused within 30 minutes later near Jalan Market.

Subsequently, Randi led a police team to the location of the stolen motorcycle at parking lot in Lorong Tunku Osman 1.

Police investigation revealed that the three accused stole the motorcycle for the purpose of selling it off.
