BETONG: Road users are advised to take note of a temporary road closure at KM13, Jalan Batang Maro-Paloh, which was damaged by strong tidal waves due to the king tide phenomenon on Wednesday (Jan 25).

“It is also to give way for road maintenance works to be carried out by Betong JKR.

“Road users are advised to plan their routes by using an alternative road for the time being while maintenance works are being conducted.

“They are also reminded to follow the safety signboards that are erected before and in the area as a precaution.”

A periodic update will be provided by Betong JKR to announce any changes to the time or location of the maintenance works.

JKR expressed its regrets for any inconvenienced caused by the road maintenance. Enquiries can be made by calling Saratok JKR at 083-436121.

Meanwhile, the Civil Defence Force (APM) said some 100m of the road was badly damaged by the strong waves and impassable to and from Kampung Paloh.

No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.

The villagers had to use an alternative road to carry out their daily activities, which is the oil palm plantation route.
