KUCHING: The Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia programme at Kuching Waterfront from Feb 24 to 27 will be held under tighter standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the National Security Council (MKN) will announce the detailed SOP soon.

“The new SOP is to ensure that visitors to the programme are protected and safe from the COVID-19 pandemic,” she said in a press conference at Kuching International Airport VIP Terminal on Monday (Feb 21).

She said for the time being, there were no changes on whether the programme would be cancelled or postponed.

“We have introduced a new SOP to further tighten visiting guidelines with the provision of seven canopied tents.

“So, one tent can only occupy 350 people before it is closed and will be controlled by the enforcement officers,” she said.

She added that the decision to continue with the programme was a fair one as there was a need to balance between health and the economic sectors.

“This will be the first programme for the year after two years of no major activities being held due to COVID-19,” she said.

She urged invited guests and the public to always adhere to the SOPs during the programme.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg are expected to attend the programme’s opening ceremony on Feb 26.
