KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the 15th general election (GE15) is the time for Sarawakians to make a stand.

“After 59 years, this is our time to unite and make a stand since they are a mess over there in Peninsular Malaysia.

“They are no longer united over there so they need us GPS in order to form the federal government and this is why it is even more important that Sarawakians stick together and vote for us,” he said.

Sim aired this point during SUPP’s political talk for Bandar Kuching and Stampin at the compound opposite Aeroville Mall in Stutong last night.

He questioned Bandar Kuching incumbent Dr Kelvin Yii and Stampin incumbent Chong Chieng Jen on the legitimacy of their claims about GPS not wanting to work with Pakatan Harapan (PH).

“They kept mentioning that we will not work with PH even though their bosses (Datuk Seri) Anwar Ibrahim and Anthony Loke (Siew Fook) said otherwise.

“You have to know that voting for us GPS is not voting for Umno because we will only talk to whoever wins.

“I would also like to know why are they contesting using their own ‘rocket’ logo but not the Pakatan Harapan logo.”

In this context he jested if after the election, Anwar would tell him that DAP Sarawak is not part of their coalition.

Sim called on the voters to come out and vote for GPS this Saturday.

“GPS will never lie to Sarawakians and I want to tell you that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg would only pick what is right for us Sarawak in order to form a stable government.

“We do not want to see another stint where we will have three Prime Ministers within five years.

“This is the time to give DAP a lesson for not being able to fulfil their promises during PH’s 22 months in power, so please come out and vote for the benefit of Sarawakians.”

“This time we have to get what is rightfully ours. They (DAP) are running out of ideas so they use the frightening tactic to tell you all that we will work with Umno and make (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad) Zahid (Hamidi) the Prime Minister,” Sim said.
