Tiong grants school RM200k to plug problems

SIBU: Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has allocated a special fund of RM200,000 to help alleviate problems facing SK Sibu Jaya.

Officiating at the Annual General Meeting of the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) and SK Sibu Jaya Consensus Day on Saturday, he said he was alerted to its problems by the school and PIBG.

He said it is his responsibility to help the school since it is in his area.

“There are many urgent needs that need to be improved in this school,” he said.

Tiong said SK Sibu Jaya which has been established for a long time currently has 57 classrooms with a total of 1,906 students in the morning and afternoon sessions run by more than 100 teaching staff.

“The school voiced various problems in the school’s facilities, including damaged and outdated toilet facilities, rusty water pipes, unstable electricity supply, corridor expansion, roofing and many more.

“Also the absence of a covered activity center and the need to upgrade facilities in special classes and preschool education classes,” he said.

“I hope the school can use this fund in the best way to gradually improve the basic problems.”

In addition, he also sponsored 2,000 plastic chairs to be used for the school’s daily activities.

Also present were SK Sibu Jaya Headmaster Jabut Minda and SK Sibu Jaya PIBG Chairman Jagu Shafiee.
