KUCHING: Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has reminded voters in Saratok of the lack of facilities in the parliamentary constituency.

The Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president said this reflects the failure of the incumbent MP Datuk Ali Biju, who held the position of Deputy Minister in the federal government, had failed to bring benefits to the people of Saratok, which until today does not even has a fire station.

“Until now, there is no fire station in Kabong. When he was in power, he did not use it for the good of the people,” Tiong said in a press statement on Thursday.

He also noted that Kabong district and Kalaka were often facing water supply problems.

“Therefore, I assure the people that it will be resolved if the PDP and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) recapture the constituency in this GE15,” he stressed.

He said GPS is the coalition of parties that really care and proactive in solving people’s issues.

“Accordingly, I appeal to the public to give full support to all the GPS candidates who will contest in this GE15,” he added.

He admitted that Ali Biju has a right to defend the Saratok seat he last won on a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket in the 2018 general election.

Ali Biju is contesting the 15th general election using the Perikatan Nasional (PN) symbol after he left PKR for Bersatu during the infamous Sheraton Move in 2020.

He is involved in a three-cornered fight with Giendam Jonathan Tait of GPS and Ibil Jaya (Pakatan Harapan).
