Tiong’s ministry to focus on longhouse homestays

KUCHING: Developing and promoting longhouse homestays will be one of the areas which the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture will focus on in Sarawak, Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said.

this during the PDP Media Night at Jalan Carpenter last night (Dec 15).

“We will focus on boosting Sarawak’s tourism and bring exposure to longhouse homestays.

“It is not just about food and culture (at the longhouses) only,” he said during the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) media event here, last night (Dec 15).

Tiong, who is PDP president, said the media event was held as part of the party’s efforts to thank media practitioners for their crucial role of dissemination information about the party to the public.

He assured that his party would collaborate with the media to share constructive ideas for the development of Sarawak and the country.

“If there is any shortcoming, please forgive us and we look forward to working closely with the media.

“We need everyone to work together in developing Sarawak’s tourism,” he said.

Also present at the event were PDP vice-president Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, deputy president Datuk Anthony Nogeh, secretary-general Datuk Nelson Balang Rining and Krian assemblyman Friday Belik.
