MUKAH: Tobha Restaurant extended its support to students by donating 30 packs of roti canai and curry sauce to the Student Food Bank Programme at Mukah Polytechnic (PMU) today.

Salihin Den, head of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Mukah Branch, conveyed that this donation aims to alleviate the students’ financial burden and aid their learning process.

“According to (restaurant) manager Noor Muhammad, he hopes that this food assistance can, to some extent, ease the burden of students.

“Not only that, he is one of the regular contributors to the Student Food Bank Programme,” he explained.

The Student Food Bank Programme, an extension of the Food Bank Malaysia Programme launched in December 2018, aims to support students across higher education institutions (IPTs) by addressing their living expenses and fostering volunteerism among them.

Salihin highlighted the collaborative efforts between KPDN, educational institutions and contributors to ensure the effectiveness and smooth implementation of the programme.

He encouraged other private sectors and corporate bodies to participate in supporting the initiative.

“KPDN Mukah always welcomes the involvement of the private sector, supermarkets, bakeries and corporate bodies interested in contributing, to contact us.

“This is to make it easier for us to coordinate the donation process.”

Salihin expressed hope that such initiatives would mitigate the challenges of student living expenses, enabling them to focus on their studies.

The handover event was also attended by Aiesah Karim, head of Student Affairs and Development Department, and Halimah Salleh, a representative from KPDN Mukah.
