SIBU: Residents  affected by the recent freak storm here are urged to submit their assistance applications to the Welfare Department at Sibu Islamic Complex.

Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Michael Tiang Ming Tee said today (April 14) will be the last day for   victims to apply for the assistance.

Tiang said only home owners or their next of kin were eligible to submit the applications for the assistance, which would be in the form of either food assistance or financial aid for building materials.

“To apply, please bring along your IC (identification card) and the IC of the house owner, if you’re a representative. Secondly, you’ll need a police report.

“Thirdly, you need to have photos or videos of the damages suffered by your houses during the thunderstorm,” he said in his Facebook livestream today (April 13).

The Pelawan assemblyman also urged the victims to immediately visit the Welfare Department before the deadline even without completed supporting documents.

“You can submit two applications in one location — one (application office) is on the third floor, another is on the fourth. So, please come as soon as possible before the deadline tomorrow,” he said.
