KUCHING: Some of the world’s top arm wrestlers converged at Pullman Hotel here yesterday to take part in the Vendetta Top 8 event as well as a locally organised Premier 101 International Charity Arm Wrestling Championship 2019 (P101CAC).

The Vendetta Top 8 in Malaysia is the first three qualifying series between the strongest 8 arm wrestlers in the world.

The first of only three events for 2019 took place from 8 to 11pm at the hotel featuring the likes of Tim Bresnan from the USA vs Levani Saginashvili of Georgia, Vitali Laletin from Russia vs Dmitry Trubin of Kazakhstan, Alex Kurdecha from Poland vs Kydyrgali Ongarbaev of Kazakhstan and Rustam Babayev from Ukraine) vs Euvgenii Prudnyk also from Ukraine.

In the Top 8 athletes in the top
8 positions of the worldwide
ranking order face off against each other either to maintain their standings or climb the ladder in the rankings.

Athletes ranked 9 and below participated in the other challenges like the vendetta format where lower ranked athletes can challenge athletes way up on the ladder and if they win the challenge they will then be afforded the points of the opponent to climb the ladder while the loser will not lose their original ranking.
