KUCHING: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in Sarawak is adopting a more assertive strategy to clamp down on crime.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata has vowed to ramp up surveillance efforts to guarantee the safety and security of the public and strengthen border security.

“Continuous monitoring and targeted operations will be our tools against activities that corrode societal values, and we will also tighten security at our border points,” he told reporters after his visit to the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

During the visit, Dr Wan Junaidi highlighted the escalating challenges posed by drug abuse and online gambling.

As Sarawak’s principal law enforcement body, Mancha affirmed the PDRM’s resolve to combat these issues decisively, aiming to maintain the state’s peace and harmony.

The meeting, which lasted an hour, was also attended by senior police officers.
