SARIKEI: The rapid development taking place in Sarikei strengthens the division in its role as Sarawak’s major food producer.

Repok assemblyman Datuk Sri Huang Tiong Sii said the development includes the construction of the Sarikei to Tanjung Manis road.

“With such development, it is able to create economic potential especially in the agriculture sector,” he said.

He said this during the certificate presentation ceremony to the village chiefs and village development and security committee (JKKK) for Repok constituency in Sarikei on Thursday (Dec 11).

In the meantime, Huang also reminded the community leaders and village chiefs to always help the government to convey the right information to the public.

“Community leaders and village chiefs play an important role in guiding the community at the grassroots level,” he said.

Meanwhile, at the ceremony, a total of eight village chiefs received their reappointment and new appointment letters, while 35 chairman of the JKKK received the JKKK registration certificate.
