Nanta, Jamit officiate earth-breaking ceremony of proposed Gelanggang Teresang Kapit project

KAPIT: Member of Parliament for Kapit, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat jointly officiated at an earth-breaking ceremony for the proposed Gelanggang Teresang Kapit project here today.

Prior to the earth-breaking ceremony Nanta and his entourage were briefed by an official of BL Consultant, Francis Uleng on proposed project.

The proposed improvement and upgrading of Gelanggang Teresang or formally known as Kapit Town Square is one of major development projects in this division undertaken by Kapit District Council.

The other major development projects are in various stages of construction including Belaga River Front Phase I and Phase II, Song River Front Phase II and Phase III, proposed Kapit River Front Phase II, proposed re-development and beautification of lily pond Kapit and the proposed Kapit multi-storey car park.

The completion of all those development projects will help to transform the landscape of Kapit town.

The successful contractor for the Gelanggang Teresang Kapit project is Pet Rocks Malaysia while the project consultant is BL Consultants.

The project costing RM2.38 million which is expected to be completed in 12 months commenced on February 13, 2019.

Meanwhile, Kapit District Council has successfully implemented all its major development projects under the 11th Malaysian Plan (RMK11) and Rural Transformation Projects (RTP).

Among those present were Walikota of Kapit District Council Dato Philimon Nuing, a political secretary to the Chief Minister, Tapah Ata, KDC assistant secretary Kelimbik Sibat, SAO Bidah Lujah, a representative of Sarawak Rivers Board Seredin Achang, KDC councillors and local community leaders.
