Town Villa in Sibu Jaya under 14-day EMCO

KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has decided to impose an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) on the Town Villa housing and flat area in Sibu Jaya, effective 12.01am on Feb 12 to 11.59pm on Feb 25.

“This is in view of Sibu Jaya recording 247 positive Covid-19 cases, of which 129 were from the Town Villa housing and flat area,” said SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at the committee’s Covid-19 update press conference today (Feb 10).

He said an estimated 6,000 residents lived in the area.

On another matter, he said the districts of Lundu, Beluru, Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri, and Sibu remained red with a total of 1,925 local infection cases reported in the nine districts in the last 14 days.

“Selangau, Sri Aman, Matu, and Bau remain orange with 107 local infection cases reported in the four districts within the last 14 days,” he said.

Uggah, who is also Deputy Chief Minister said Kuching, Subis, Samarahan, Betong, Saratok, Sarikei, Daro, Sebauh, Lawas, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga, Meradong, and Julau remained yellow with an overall total of 150 local infection cases reported in the last fortnight.

He urged the people to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially during the upcoming Chinese New Year festive season.
