SIBU: Residents of Town Villa houses and flats in Sibu Jaya are in full compliance with the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, when contacted, said all the rules and guidelines pertaining to the CMCO were fully complied with by some 6,000 residents.

“For the past three days, excluding today (Feb 15), there have been no reports of residents violating the CMCO.

“All residents remained in their homes and this shows a high level of discipline and serious cooperation with the government to break the chain of Covid-19 infection,” he said.

Stanley said the residents are complying with the government’s instructions and did not cause any problems to his party, including the two roadblocks set up at the entrances of the residential areas.

“Until now we do not have a record of arrests of individuals who violated the CMCO in the area.

“We hope this cooperation would be maintained so that the CMCO can be lifted with no cases reported,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai explained that there may be changes with the CMCO’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) in both areas following the State Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) extension of the CMCO in the state until March 1.

He said the SOP changes will be announced from time to time depending on current needs.

“The CMCO SOPs guidelines can be found on the National Security Council’s (MKN) website,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Sempurai also called on residents to remain calm and comply with instructions issued by the authorities.

“What is important is for them to stay in their respective homes.

“I understand this situation is very difficult but in order to break the chain of Covid-19 infection, we have no choice. Your cooperation is very much needed,” he said.
