Trade and investment mission trip to Bangladesh next month

KUCHING: Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) is  going on a trade and investment mission trip to Bangladesh, tentatively scheduled from 6 until 13 April, 2017.

The trip is at the invitation of the High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Kuala Lumpur.

KCGCCI Chairman, Dr. Christopher Ngui revealed this at a press conference at the KCGCCI office at Jalan Bukit Mata here yesterday.

The trade and investment mission trip seeks to strengthen  trade ties between Sarawak and Bangladesh and to explore business and investment opportunities in Bangladesh.

Ngui said that a local Assistant Minister and some government officials would be joining the trip.

Highlights of the trip include a courtesy visit on the Agriculture Minister and other Ministers of Bangladesh, a meeting with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, a meeting with Bangladesh Export Development Bureau, a courtesy visit on the High Commissioner of Malaysia in Dhaka, a courtesy visit on the Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority of the Prime Minister’s Office and visits to a pharmaceutical factory, a textile factory and others.

As requested by KCGCCI, the delegates will be having a back-to-back (B2B) session with  members of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

Manufacturers or traders who wish to export their products to Bangladesh are urged to bring along their products for showcasing purposes. 

The delegation will also be visiting Dhaka City and Cox Bazar, renowned tourist attractions in Bangladesh.

Ngui added that the tour fare (approximately between RM6,000 and RM7,000) included return air fares from Kuching to Dhaka and Dhaka to Cox Bazar, accommodation, meals, airport pick-up, local transportation and visa application. The delegation will be flying with Malaysia Airlines and stay at four-star to five-star hotels.

Due to limited seats, KCGCCI urged those interested to register with the Secretariat at Level 8, Wisma Chinese Chambers at Jalan Bukit Mata or call telephone number 082-242577 on or before 21 March, 2017, subject to the availability of seats on a first come, first served basis.

To date, about 30 delegates have registered with KCGCCI and it plans to have around 40 delegates joining the trip.
