KUCHING: Five roundabouts along the Kuching Samarahan Expressway will be upgraded into traffic lights intersections to resolve congestion during peak hour.
Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the upgrade will make it comfortable for people to drive to and from Kuching and Samarahan.
“This is an initiative of the state government to resolve the traffic issues along Kuching Samarahan Expressway,” he said during commencement of the project on Saturday (Oct 24).
According to Julaihi, three of the intersections will have Smart traffic lights while the other two will have roads that will cut across the roundabouts.
The project, costing RM47.3 million is expected to be completed in 15 months.
Julaihi reminded the contractor to make sure the project would be completed on time.
