Trailer driver arrested, 32,000 litres diesel seized

MUKAH: Police arrested a trailer driver who was transporting 32,000 litres of diesel worth about RM68,800 without a valid permit at KM70, Jalan Sibu-Selangau on Friday (Oct 15).

The trailer and the fuel were also seized, involving an estimated total value of RM318,800.

Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said at about 12.30pm, a six-man team from Selangau police station and Mukah Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) conducted a snap check on the trailer and the driver.

Police said the 54-year-old driver from Rumah Ado, Nanga Tada, Kanowit, failed to produce any valid document from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) to transport diesel.

“The driver and trailer were detained under the Control of Supply Act, 1961 for possessing scheduled controlled goods without a valid permit,” he said.

He added the driver and the seized items were brought to Selangau police station for documentation, and the case would be handed over to KPDNHEP Mukah branch for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 20(1) of Control of Supply Act 1961.
