KUCHING: The Sarawak Ministry of Transport (MoTS) made a visit to the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM), Sarawak Region yesterday (April 17).

MoTS said the purpose was to promote collaboration and establish a strong partnership between MoTS and Sarawak CAAM.

The visit was led by minister Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin, along with a delegation comprising his deputy Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, technical advisor Sio Yew Hua, aviation division head Zulkarnain Rosli, and officers from MoTS.

The delegation received a comprehensive briefing from acting Sarawak CAAM director Petrus Coupon Lim, on the latest operations and CAAM development projects in Sarawak.

Besides that, discussions also encompassed civil aviation issues in Sarawak, including communication equipment in airports and STOLports as well as exploring potential areas of collaboration between MoTS and Sarawak CAAM.

The delegates were also provided with in-depth insights into the operation of search and rescue, and air traffic control, and were able to closely observe the tasks performed by air traffic control officers in ensuring safe, smooth and orderly flight traffic operations.
