KUCHING: Three hikers who found themselves trapped between the sea and rocky mountain during a hiking activity at Mount Santubong last Friday, have been found safe by rescuers.

A spokesperson from the State Fire Department operations centre said firemen from Petra Jaya station were despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call around 7.25pm.

Upon arriving, rescuers began their search and kept in touch with the trio to facilitate the search operations.

The three men, all aged 28, were found at the other side of the beach around Permai Rainforest at about 7.50pm.

The team successfully rescued them and brought them back to base for health check-up.
