TRAVELLERS in France can now buy tickets for regional and express trains at tobacco shops, in an effort to make buying these tickets more convenient for customers.

The service will be rolled out in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, Grand Est, Normandy, Pays de la Loire and Provence-AlpesCôtes d’Azur regions, according to the Centre for European Consumer Protection.

The tickets for the TER regional trains and TGV express trains can be printed right at the store. At the train station, the ticket will be scanned by an employee or while going through a turnstile entry.

Ticket exchanges and refunds must, however, still be taken care of at the sales offices run by the state railway company SNCF. – dpa
