KUCHING: The Farm-to-Farm Travelogue programme is set to cover various parts of Sarawak in the next 30 days starting on Saturday (July 22).

Abdul Razak Aziz who will be leading the travelogue team said their journey will begin in Kuching followed by Bau, Serian, Bintulu, Baram and Ba’kelalan among others.

He said the programme is being held in conjunction with the upcoming Sarawak AgroTourism Conference and Expo (SAtCE) 2023.

The travelogue team consists of Abdul Razak, Intan Jailani and Khairul Anuar Saidin of SEEDS Malaysia which is a non-profit organisation that promotes sustainable agriculture in the nation.

The team will also be joined by local guide Sylvia Bungan from Kampung Long Moh, Baram.

“Agriculture is widely practised in Malaysia as well as in Sarawak. The objective of this programme is to explore, understand and document the unique natural farming practices specific to the region.

“We are hoping to engage with local farmers in various areas to learn their secrets and tap into their wisdom of farming,” he said during a press conference on Saturday (July 22).

Abdul Razak said the Farm-to-Farm Travelogue programme’s findings will be featured during the highly anticipated SAtCE.

He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development for their support in making the programme a reality.

“As farmers ourselves, we are always intrigued by natural farming methods that not only yield high-quality produce, but also foster sustainability. Across the globe, solutions for food security are being sought after and we firmly believe that our local traditional farmers hold invaluable answers,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom who officiated at the Farm-to-Farm Travelogue programme flag-off at Taman Kekal Pengeluaran Makanan (TKPM) Rampangi said the programme is a good platform to introduce, promote and share with the world on Sarawak’s agrotourism.

He said the programme will allow the sharing of experiences and insights of the state’s farming community to the world.

“The different ethnic groups in Sarawak have their own ways of doing farming which is something unique that can potentially become an agrotourism product.
