Treasure what we have

KUCHING: Sarawakians are now living in better conditions compared to 57 years ago after Sarawak decided to form Malaysia along with Malaya and Sabah, said Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

In his Malaysia Day message, the Sarawak Kayan Association (PKS) president said Sept 16 was a very significant date which must be appreciated by people from all walks of life.

“All Sarawakians, especially the younger generations should and must appreciate and uphold the importance of this date in their minds and hearts.

“We are living in much better conditions compared to 57 years ago as a result of Sarawak’s decision to form a nation called Malaysia on Sept 16,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (Sept 15).

Dennis said Sarawakians must treasure what had been given to them and contribute to making Sarawak a better place for all to live in.

He added Sarawakians should back the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to continue development in the state.

“Let us all Sarawakians stand solidly behind the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, a leader extraordinaire, and GPS which has proven to be an efficient and effective state government,” he said.
