Trial for ex-technician’s alleged sexual acts

KUCHING: A former technician has been ordered by the Session Court here to stand trial on four charges of engaging in unnatural sexual acts with a 15-year-old boy.

The alleged incident took place in a rented room in Matang four years ago.

Judge Maris Agan made the decision after the prosecution successfully presented a strong case against the 30-year-old accused.

According to the charges, the accused is accused of sodomising the 15-year-old male victim on two occasions: late July 2020 and early August 2020, around 7 pm, in a rented room in Matang Jaya.

In two separate incidents, the accused allegedly sodomised the same victim around 7 pm in mid-August 2020 and on August 21, 2020.

The accused has been charged under Section 377A of the Penal Code, which deals with unnatural sexual acts, read together with Section 377B of the same code.

If convicted, the accused could face a maximum prison sentence of up to 20 years and may be subject to whipping.

It is understood that the accused and the victim became acquainted through a social media application.

The prosecution has presented 11 witnesses, and the court has carefully examined all the evidence and arguments put forth by the witnesses.

The trial for the accused to present his defense has been scheduled for November 22 and 23.

While awaiting trial, the court has allowed the accused to be released on bail in the amount of RM10,000 provided by two local sureties.
