KATIBAS assemblyman Lidam Assan paid a moving tribute to the late Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, expressing sorrow over the loss of a great leader and gratitude for his transformative influence on the people.
During his debate in support of the motion of appreciation to the former Head of State today (May 8) he described Taib as a visionary, mentor, and guiding light, emphasising the profound impact the late leader had on the lives of countless individuals.
The assemblyman highlighted Taib’s unwavering commitment to serving Sarawak, noting how his initiatives, leadership, and optimism had left an indelible mark on the community.
“Taib was more than just a figurehead; he was a friend, a confidant, and a mentor to many. He believed in the power of unity, empathy, and collaboration, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come,” he said.
“While we mourn the loss of Taib, let us also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived and the profound impact he had on all of us. Let us honour his memory by carrying forward his vision, his values, and his spirit of service.”
He expressed gratitude to Taib for his tireless dedication and unwavering leadership, acknowledging that his legacy will endure as a guiding force for the Katibas community and beyond.
Kuala Rajang assemblyman Datuk Len Talif Salleh who also spoke said he agreed with the debates presented by other assemblypersons in the House earlier.
”For a man who has dedicated more than six decades of his life to serve the people of Sarawak and Malaysia, there are no words that can do justice to describe in this short space of time the late Taib’s contribution and the impact he had on the people of Sarawak and Malaysia,” he said.
”I agree with what has been expressed by all the assemblypersons regarding the contributions of Taib, except for the stance taken by the Padungan assemblyman, which is embarrassing for someone of his status,” Len added.
