BAU: Three men have been compounded for violating the conditional movement control order (CMCO) on Thursday.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said two of three individuals were arrested at roadblocks while the other one was arrested during a raid.

“The first arrest took place around 12.28pm at a roadblock at Jalan Bau-Batu Kawa.

“Our personnel arrested a 55-year-old man for attempting to travel across the district. He failed to produce a written approval letter from the police and also failed to provide a valid reason to do so,” he said in a statement.

Poge added that the second arrest took place shortly around 1.09pm at the same location, with a 20-year-old man also attempting to travel across the district without permit and a valid reason to do so.

The third CMCO violation arrest was carried out around 1.45pm in front of Kampung Serasot Hall by a team of personnel from Bau Police Criminal Investigation Division and Bau Police Narcotic Criminal Investigation Division.

“The team was acting from a public tip-off about a group of people gathering in the location.

“When the team arrived at the scene, a 30-year-old man was arrested while the rest managed to escape. “The individual failed to provide a valid reason for gathering in a public area,” Poge said, adding that all three individuals were compounded with a fine of RM1,000 each.
