Trio hurt in assault by armed suspects

KUCHING: Four suspects armed with knife, hammer and iron pipe attacked three males and a female at a parking area of a supermall at Semariang Baru on Monday evening.

According to Kuching police chief, ACP Awang Din Awang Gani, three of the attack victims were taken to Sarawak General Hospital with multiple injuries.

They were beaten on the head, arms and bodies but they are in stable condition.

The three victims comprised a 27-year-old welder, from Kpg Rampangi, Jalan Sultan Tengah, a teenager also from Rampangi and another teenager from Batu Kawa.

The three were hanging out in the parking area when a car arrived with the four armed suspects.

They then came out of the car and started to assaulted the trio.

The victims fought back but later fled the scene.

Awang Din said police had visited the crime scene and recorded statements from the victims and eye witnesses. The police also viewed the CCTV footage in the area.

The four suspects are still at large.
