Trio, including student, arrested for drugs

The trio arrested by Padawan narcotics police for their involvement in drugs last Sunday.

PADAWAN: A Form Five student, who has been involved in drugs for the past two years, was arrested along with two unemployed men in a house at Kampung Mambong, Jalan Mambong-Sarig here.

The raid, conducted by the district’s narcotics police, took place around 4pm last Sunday.

Padawan deputy OCPD DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said the trio aged 17, 22 and 28, who do not have any police records, were detained for inspection.

“During inspection, one of the suspects was seen throwing a suspicious item next to a chair.

“The team examined the item and found 14 small plastic packets containing crystalline lumps believed to be syabu inside a medium sized plastic packet.

“The drugs, weighing around 5.10g and worth RM450, were seized as evidence.”

Lim said  the suspects, who tested positive for drugs, would be remanded until June 18 to facilitate investigations under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

During questioning, one of the suspects admitted to obtaining the drug supply by hand from a man known as “Aloy”.

DSP Lim added that the adults were placed in the Siburan lock-up while the student was placed in the Tapah lock-up pending investigation.
