Trio steals limelight at innovation and research competition

Cakeculator won two awards.

MUKAH: Cakeculator stole the limelight at Politeknik Mukah (PMU) virtual Commerce Research, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (CTEX) Awards here on Tuesday (June 22), bagging two categories.

Cakeculator, comprising Mohamad Ashraf Zaaba, Goh Si Ying and Nurul Fathun Nisha, and supervised by lecturer Shatila Shani, won the best case study and best presentation respectively.

For the best case study award, each received RM100, certificates of appreciation, and entry to the Technology & Innovation International Conference (TECHON) 2021.

They also received RM100 and a certificate each for winning the best presentation award.

The best innovation award category was won by E-Count T, comprising Khairulnisa Mohamad Yusuf, Nurul Tasmin Abu and Khairulnisa Abdul Mubarak, and supervised by Adi Jaya Adam.

The trio took home RM100 and certificates of appreciation, and entry to the International Borneo Innovation Exhibition & Competition (IBIEC) 2021.

The CTEX programme, held virtually for the first time and involved 33 students, aims to encourage students to get involved in innovation and research competitions.

They competed in three CTEX Awards 2020 December Session comprising three case studies and eight innovation projects.

It is organised every session for fifth semester students taking diploma in business studies, to present their case studies and innovations respectively.

The programme was organised by PMU Commerce Department in collaboration with its (PMU) Research, Innovation and Commercial Unit (UPIK).

PMU deputy director (academic) Mohd Sani Said officiated at the virtual event, as former director Dullah Muluk was transferred to Politeknik Tawau, Sabah on June 16.

The panel of external assessors comprised UiTM Mukah Campus head of Studies Centre (management and business), Faculty of Business Studies Dayang Hummida Abang Abdul Rahman (leader), UiTM Faculty of Business Studies senior lecturer Dr Yusman Yacob (head of jury), and Bank Rakyat Mukah branch manager Yuhip Rabaie.

The panel of internal assessors consisted of head of Mechanical Engineering Department Dr Nur Adilla Kasim, Dr Bong Siaw Wee and Dr Muhammad Sufyan Safwan Mohamad Basir, both from Electrical Engineering Department.
