KUCHING: Kakus constituents residing in Tatau District are urged to not go to Bintulu District unless necessary.

Assistant Native Laws and Customs Minister Datuk John Sikie Tayai reminded that this was to break the Covid-19 transmission chain.

“Likewise, for those who are in Bintulu or urban areas, they are also not encouraged to return to the longhouses at this time unless necessary,” he said on Friday (April 9).

The Kakus assemblyman noted that the number of cases in Bintulu had increased, with 70 recorded on Thursday (April 8), the highest in the state on that day.

“Village chiefs and community leaders should monitor and report any social gatherings such as weddings and funerals to the District Office.

“Although social events are allowed in green and yellow zones, it seems that such events were not held following the 50 percent limited capacity rule.

“The public should avoid crowded events like BBQ, birthday parties, etc.”

He again reminded everyone to comply with Covid-19 standard operating procedures.
