MIRI: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) patrol crews here have seized a tug boat with 5,000 litres of diesel worth RM11,000.
According to MMEA Miri chief Capt Mohd Fauzi Othman, his patrol crews carried out the raid at five nautical miles off the waters of Kuala Baram at 9.10pm on April 25.
During the raid, the team also detained four Indonesians crews including a skipper aged between 23 and 30.
The tug boat was immediately towed to Miri’s shores for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act, 1961 for unlawful possession of controlled items.
“Upon further inspection, it was found out that the seized diesel had no proper document from the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP),” said Fauzi.
