KUCHING: The upcoming TVET Symposium 2019 to be held at Pullman Hotel here from February 19 to 21 will be an ideal platform to facilitate the development of talent for the digital economy.

Co-organised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research Sarawak (MESTR) and Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak (PPKS), the symposium will be officiated at by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Commenting on the symposium, PPKS executive director Hallman Sabri said: “The symposium will feature an impressive line-up of speakers from the country and overseas. An estimated 500 delegates are expected to attend this symposium. Indeed, this will be an ideal platform for stakeholders, comprising the government, industry and academia to explore ways to develop future-ready talent for the digital economy. With Industry 4.0 and the digital economy at our doorstep, there is an urgent need to engage in lively discourse and at the same time, share best practices in areas such as the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Strategic Human Capital Development, and how TVET must evolve in its noble endeavour to produce future-ready graduates. The symposium will also enable stakeholders to receive updates on government policies, the vibrant transformation of TVET, and how Industry 4.0 and the digital economy open new doors of opportunity for the industry sectors.”
