KUCHING: A more hands-on approach in obtaining and processing information has given TVS newscasters and hosts the edge over other television stations in the nation.

Sarawak Media Group (SMG) chief executive officer Suhaimi Sulaiman said most of TVS’ on-screen personalities were required to go out on the field to carry out their assignments.

“This means that when they are presenting the news, they are not only reading (the news), but they are also reporters,” he said when met by New Sarawak Tribune recently.

Suhaimi highlighted that TVS also has experts on various fields in its repertoire, adding that it is the only television channel to have four Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) holders amongst its hosts.

“I think this adds credibility to any particular TV station. We have the young ones, and we have the experienced ones from the industry,” he said.

He commended the attitude shown by the team at TVS which he acknowledged as the best attitude he has ever witnessed in any television setup that he has been a part of throughout his career.

He pointed out that some of the best quality shown by his team included their hunger for success, showing commitment in devoting their time, in addition to striving for continuous improvements.

“As of now, we have yet to have all the equipments needed. However, they are still keen to learning a lot.

“We have set up TVS in less than three months and we could not have done it without team members with this great attitude,” Suhaimi enthused.
