KUCHING: TVS, the state-owned television station, will be organising its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, TVSPrihatin, in conjunction with its third anniversary.

The one-day programme, slated for this Saturday (Nov 11) in Gedong, will feature various activities such as exhibitions from agencies, namely Unifi TV, Affin Bank, Sarawak Department of Welfare, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and Lembaga Tabung Haji as well as TVS jukebox performance.

Sarawak Media Group (SMG) executive deputy chairman and chief executive officer Kushairi Abang said this marks TVS’ first appearance in Gedong for CSR initiatives.

“TVSPrihatin is rather a new TVS outfit that reaches out to the community we serve.

“It’s the vehicle that spells out TVS’ underlying desire to be felt, not just seen. In times of need, as a media, we can help to arrange assistance and promote charity.

“For the Gedong community, we will begin by aiding e-Kasih recipients by providing them opportunity to view the world through TVS,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.

Kushairi assured that similar initiatives will be intensified in the future in their efforts to promote local businesses in Gedong through its TV programme ‘Kedei Kita’ and the likes.

“This CSR event will give us the opportunity to understand more about Gedong and the needs of their community. For sure, we will come back with better programmes.

“Whatever initiatives we introduce for Gedong or any part of Sarawak, we shall need directions from the state government and relevant agencies.”

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to launch the event.

Abang Johari is also expected to join the tree-planting ceremony at Masjid Al-Khawtar’s compound alongside Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS) chairman and TVS board of directors as well as a symbolic handover of MYTV decoder to three representatives from Gedong for 300 recipients.

The programme will also be broadcast live on Channel 122 MYTV, UnifiTv and Astro as well as via YouTube and TikTok.
