KUCHING: An episode so intense and filled with surprises … this was an atmosphere on this week’s concert set by Amir Jahari, a judge on the TVStarz after commenting on Andrey Arifianto’s performance, a contestant from Indonesia.
Amir commented on Andrey’s performance as somewhat calming yet boring when he performed ‘Di Persimpangan Dilema’, a song popularised by songstress Nora Ariffin.
Andrey took the judge’s remarks responding to it calmly. On the other hand, despite Amir’s comments, judge Yudhi Seriestha applauded Andrey’s performance while judge Ernie Zakri gave credit for his ability to sing exceptionally by showcasing different vocal mastery.
Nevertheless, Andrey swiftly made his way to second place, garnering 230 points from all three judges.
Andrey almost triumphed to be at the number one spot as he was just three points down from Jalee.
A member of The Dream Team, Jalee, stood out during this episode. Judges were blown away by his performance, ‘Di Dalam Sepi Itu’, and it was described as ‘soulful yet full of emotions’.
The song, sung by the legendary Sudirman Arshad, impacted Jalee as it reminded him of his best friend who passed away in 2015.
A participant from the Philippines, Angel, took fourth place from The Dream Team. Unfortunately for vocal coach Valerie Thiam, luck was not on her side as she went from being first to fifth place during this week’s concert. More excitement and talent is expected from every participant and as they battle it off every week, who will walk as the first TVStarsz champion?
