SIBU: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) Sibu branch apprehended two men and confiscated 520 litres of diesel and two four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles last Saturday with an estimated cost of RM50,959.20.

According to KPDNHEP Sibu chief Kelyn Bolhassan, the suspects failed to produce permit documentations or special permits upon inspection by enforcement officers.

“If convicted, an individual can be fined up to RM1,000,000 or face imprisonment for not more than three years, or both while the company responsible could be fined up to RM2 million.

“Thus, we hope the public will not buy petrol or diesel beyond the limit of vehicle tank quantity without a scheduled permit.

“Petrol station operators are also advised not to sell petrol and diesel to the public beyond the permitted quantities as provided under the Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961,” he said.
