Two amok men detained

The man, who ran amok at a house in Kampung Merapa Pujut 8, is detained.

MIRI: Two men were detained on Monday (July 12) for threatening their family members in two separate incidents.

Police arrested a 32-year-old man after he had threatening to hit his mother and sister at their house in Kampung Merapa Pujut 8.

A team of police from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested the suspect that same day, around 4.45pm, in Pujut 7 for questioning over the alleged incident.

At 12.05pm that day, the suspect had allegedly run  amok and threatened to harm his own mother and sister.

Fearing for their safety, both fled the house and susbsequently lodged a police report.

Meanwhile, in the second case, police detained a 28 year-old man in Taman Tunku for threatening his family members.

According to Miri police chief, ACP Hakemal Hawari, the family hiding in a room inside the house when the suspect suddenly went berserk and ran amok on Monday night.

The suspect was detained around 10.45pm that same day by the police after being notified on the incident.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
