Two arrested for drug activities

MUKAH: Police arrested two men including a 24-year-old security personnel for their involvement in drug activities here between July 13 and 20 (Monday).

Mukah district police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau said the security officer was arrested on Monday at 1.30pm in front of the security post of an institution of higher learning here.

He said the police found a plastic packet containing pieces of dry leaves suspected to be ganja weighing about 0.34g inside his black sling bag.

“The suspect was taken to the police station for further action and urine test found that he was positive for drugs,” he said in a statement send via WhatsApp on Tuesday (July 21).

He said that the suspect was remanded for four days, from Tuesday (July 21 until Saturday (July 25), for further investigation.

Jimmy added that another case, on July 13 at 2.10pm, at an unnumbered house at Jalan Orang Kaya Setia Raja here, involved an unemployed 22-year-old man.

He revealed that the police found a packet of dry leaves suspected to be ganja weighing 0.29g in his bedroom during a raid.

He said the suspect was then taken to the police station for further investigation and urine test found that he was positive of drugs.

According to Jimmy, the suspect was remanded for four days (July 14 till 18) for further investigation.
