Two arrested for operating bistro without licence

PADAWAN: Police here arrested two individuals after the bistro they worked in, was operating without a valid licence at Jalan Batu Kawa, MJC this morning (Oct 16).

The operation codenamed ‘Op Entertainment Centre’ was carried out by a Criminal Investigation Division (CID) team around 2.55am.

Padawan OCPD Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the police managed to arrest a 37-year-old premises caretaker and a 26-year-old employee for allegedly running a bistro without a valid entertainment licence.

“Also seized in the operation was a laptop, an audio mixer microphone set, a speaker, a pen drive and two receipts.

“Both the suspects and the seized items were handed over to the investigating officer for further action,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 5(1) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2000.

If convicted, the suspects may be sentenced to a jail term of up to five years or, be fined up to RM20,000 or, both.
