Two burglars caught within five hours of crime

MIRI: Police arrested two men within five hours after they broke into a house and stole two drills on Friday.

The 9am incident that occurred at Jalan Heleconia Pujut 5D here was captured on closed circuit television (CCTV).

After finding two of his drills with an estimate value of RM700 having gone missing, the complainant speedily lodged a police report.

Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol who confirmed the case, said a CID team managed to arrest the suspects in a house at Jalan Pujut Corner around 2.30pm after examining the CCTV footage.

“During the arrest, the team managed to recover the stolen items and two bicycles.

“Background check found that both suspects aged 28 and 35, had eight records related to burglary, drugs and trespassing,” he pointed out.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
