Two detained for running amok

The man, who ran amok in Taman Quadruplex Bandar Baru Permyjaya, is detained.

MIRI: Two local men were detained by police on Monday (Aug 2) for running amok in two separate incidences.

In the first incident which was said to have taken place in front of a house at Lorong 1-7 Taman Quadruplex Bandar Baru Permyjaya here around 8.30pm on Monday (Aug 1), a 45-year-old man suddenly ran amok and smashed several items inside the house and threatening to harm his elder brother with a 184cm long iron rod.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the suspect was detained by a Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team after a report lodged by the suspect’s 48-year-old brother.

In the second incident, a 33-year-old man in RPR Batu 6 Lorong Palma 9 ran amok and smashed the rear window of a car belonging to his elder brother. He then fled from the house.

A police team detained him around 2pm on Monday, three hours after the incident.

Both cases were being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
