Two fire stations to be proposed soon

SIBURAN: Two Class E fire stations will be proposed soon in the areas of Teng Bukap, Padawan and Kampung Krokong, Bau.

Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Willie Mongin said this at the press conference after Fire Safety Awareness Programme in conjunction with Christmas celebration and appreciation to Bomba frontliners at Siburan fire station, on Wednesday (Dec 23).

“With the Class E fire station, it could extend more help in the areas of Puncak Borneo to help with fire and all rescue fire activities that can be done easily, as these fire stations will be nearby,” he told the reporters.

Willie, who is also Puncak Borneo MP assured that he would commit in continuing programmes involving Bomba in his constituency, especially in fire safety and awareness programmes.

“I am committed to helping firefighters to perform and carry these tasks in every corner of the villages at the area,” he continued.

Moreover, Willie also revealed that around 100 units of fire extinguishers had been given to residences in Puncak Borneo constituency, especially the areas that are identified as high risk, such as longhouses.

“I hope that this kind of programme will continue and extend to more high risk areas,” he added.

Also present at the programme were State Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman and State Fire and Rescue Department Fire Safety Division, assistant director Mohamad Fauzi Mohd Kifli.
