Two gambling syndicates smashed with arrest of 34

KUCHING: Sarawak head of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) SAC Denis Leong believed that police have smashed two online gambling syndicates in two separate venues with the arrest of 34 persons aged between 18 and 34.

The two places can collect at least RM1.3 million each month.

Leong said in the first location held at Jalan Kong Ping, CID team from state police headquarters in Jalan Badruddin raided a house at 10.40am and arrested 14 men and four women. Three of the male suspects are locals while the rest are Indonesians.

Police seized nine units of computers, 18 mobile phones and found out that the place has been in operation for the past two months.

Second location where 16 suspects were nabbed.

In the second location at 11am, the same team raided a house at Lotak Villas, Jalan Stephen Yong where they arrested 12 men and four women, all from Indonesia.

They seized six computers and 12 mobile phones. The second location is also running an online gambling for the past two months.

Both places run gambling websites which included Chipsmore, Mamee, Disney, VP, DTG and Starwin.

Police are still investigating the case and the suspects are to be further remanded, added Leong.
