MIRI: Fire razed two houses at Rumah (Rh) Taderi Sungai Menok, Bakong early Friday (July 9).
A spokesperson for the State Fire Department operations centre said firemen from Lopeng station were despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call around 1.10am.
The firemen encountered some difficulties in reaching the scene of the fire which was about 100km from the station. It took the firemen some two hours, driving through narrow and dangerous road conditions before they finally arrived at the longhouse.
Upon arriving, the team found two houses were already up in flames. The firemen extinguished the embers and also prevented the fire from spreading to a nearby house.
There were no reports of casualties or injuries in the incident.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still being ascertained.
