Two injured in separate road accidents

KUCHING: Two men were injured in two separate road accidents that occurred on Saturday (Jan 30).

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the first accident happened at 7.35pm in front of a renowned hotel at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman here.

A team of firefighters from Padungan Fire and Rescue Station was deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call on the incident.

Upon arrival, they found that a car had crashed into another car parked by the roadside and its driver was trapped inside.

The victim, who sustained injuries to his leg, was extricated and taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for immediate treatment by the emergency medical rescue service (EMRS) unit.

Meanwhile, the second accident occurred at Jalan Serian-Kuching, Serian.

Firefighters, after receiving an emergency call at 8.55pm, rushed to the scene and found that a vehicle had crashed into a railing by the roadside after it had gone out of control.

The driver, who suffered minor injuries, was rescued by members of the public before the firemen arrived. He was also given early treatment by the EMRS unit before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
