Two locals nabbed for syabu possession

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Two locals were arrested by the police on Monday (Jan 8) for allegedly having in their possession syabu in a car.

Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Brodie Brangka when contacted, confirmed that the arrest occurred at 2.48 am by the roadside along Mile 9.

A police patrol team was prompted to inspect a car that was parked in a suspicious condition by the roadside.

Inspections resulted in the discovery of a plastic packet containing 0.50g of drugs believed to be syabu.

The suspects aged 22 and 24 were arrested and they are being investigated under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

If convicted, the suspects may face penalties of up to RM100,000 in fines or up to five years of imprisonment, or both.

The arrest represents part of the local police’s ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse activities in the district.
