Two men jailed six months for drug activities

KUCHING: The Magistrate Court today sentenced two men to six months jail each for involving in drug activities.

The accused Hasrollah Salleh, 31, and Mohamad Iswandy Jemat, 36, pleaded guilty after one charge was read separately before Judge Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.

She ordered the two accused to be under police supervision for two years after serving their prison sentences

According to the charges, Hasrollah was tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, Kuching district police at around 2.50 pm on Oct 26 last year.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Iswandy was also tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine at around 1.55 pm on Dec 6 last year.

They were charged under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and were convicted under Section 15(1) of the same act.

Both of them were alleged to have imported prohibited drugs such as methamphetamine and amphetamine as contained in the First Schedule of the act.

The prosecution of the case was handled by prosecuting officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin while Hasrollah and Mohamad Iswandy were not represented by counsel.
